You must have heard about the exam dates clashing with the vote. Well, you have heard it right. With the announcement of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 schedule by the Election Commission of India, there’s speculation about the potential rescheduling of various entrance and competitive exams, such as CUET UG, NEET UG, and ICAI CA. The elections are set to take place from April 19 to June 1, with vote counting on June 4.
Will the dates for the CUET UG exams be changed?
The dates for several entrance and competitive exams coincide with the election period. Specifically, the CUET-UG exams, which are slated for May 15 to May 31. Its exam dates fall on May 20 and May 25, which clashes with election days. The NEET UG 2024 exam is also scheduled during this time, on May 5.
Concerns have been raised about whether these exams will be deferred due to the elections.
In response, UGC Chairman M Jagadesh confirmed that the CUET UG exams will proceed as planned. He stated, “The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the CUET-UG exams between May 15 and May 31, 2024. Two of these dates coincide with election days. We will determine the number of students and their locations after the application deadline on March 26, 2024. The NTA will then finalize the CUET-UG schedule.”
Will the JEE Main Session 2 and NEET UG exams be postponed?
Regarding the NEET UG exams, it has been reported that the May 5 exam will not be postponed. The NTA has assured that both the JEE Main Session 2 and NEET exams will occur as scheduled, with the former taking place before the elections, from April 1-15.
What will happen with the ICAI CA and foundation exams?
As for the ICAI CA exams, which were originally planned for May, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has decided to reschedule and has announced new exam dates on March 19.
Previously, the intermediate group 1 exams were set for May 3, 5, and 7, and group 2 for May 9, 11, and 13. The final exams for Group 1 were to be held on May 2, 4, and 6, and for Group 2 on May 8, 10, and 12.
The foundation exams were scheduled for June 20, 22, 24, and 26. It remains unclear if the foundation exams will also be rescheduled.
